Judy C. Holland

Memorial services for Judy C. Holland, 76, of Hudson will be held Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Angelina Church of Christ located at 2213 Tulane Drive in Lufkin with Scout Betz officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Judy was born February 19, 1947 in Lufkin, Texas and passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024.

Judy graduated from Hudson High School and furthered her education at Stephen F. Austin State University with a double major in English and Math. She was a beloved math teacher for 36 years at Groveton, Zavalla, and Lufkin ISD.

As a child Judy moved around a lot and lived in multiple states but she called Lufkin her home. She met the love of her life, Bubba, as a single mother of two. It was a whirlwind romance where they married soon after meeting, and he later adopted her children as his own. The family of four soon became a tribe of five when they were blessed with the birth of their beautiful red-haired Matt. They lived in marital bliss for 45 years. She supported all his endeavors and hobbies, especially his love of baseball. She loved attending all the Hudson baseball games that she could attend. She had a love for the beach and painting. She loved her family fiercely. She loved God and her church family. She was a positive influence on the lives of many. Those that were closest called her Honey. We are comforted and blessed to know that Honey is with Jesus surrounded by loved ones that had gone before.

Survivors include her husband, Bubba Holland of Hudson; daughter and son-in-law, Patti Holland and J.R. Ward of Hudson; daughter, Joni Alamo Holland of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Mallory Bate of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Amanda Anthony, Ashley and Shane Allen, Taylor and Kelly Thigpen, Holli and Chris Simmons, Madison Ward, Cody and Amber Clark, Romi Nicole Bourgeois, Yara Holland, Dottie Bate; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Rick Lawrence of Hudson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Brenda and John Mills of Lufkin; numerous nieces and  nephews; and special friends, Jody Anderson, Michelle Lawrence and Ronnie Johnson, John and Glenda Havard, Robert and Connie Carr, Clint, Michele, Hank, Cutter, and James Michael Warren, Wade Fitzgerald, Colby Allen, Wes Musick, Tanner Hines, and Glen Kimble.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Romie and Patsy Ruth Allen; sons, Jeff Clark, Matt Holland; brother, Michael Pat Lawrence; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Buddy and Joyce Holland; and special friends, Clay Cox, and Sandy and Nelda Bate.

It was her heartfelt wish that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Matt Holland Fighting Panther Scholarship Fund, c/o Bubba Holland, 977 Penn Bonner Road, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
