Funeral services for Juanita Hines, 88, of Lufkin will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Cindy Doran and Pastor Mike Waters officiating, with pianist Rosemary Berry. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hines was born September 4, 1930 in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of the late Eunice F. (Williams) and James M. “Jim” Spears. She died Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the home of Lanny and Paula Parish, with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. Hines was lovingly known as Mother, Grandmother and Opoo to her family. She dearly loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hines enjoyed times spent with her family, whether baking in the kitchen or gathering at the lake, playing 42, eating and fishing. She never met a stranger and made many friends during her 35-year career serving the Lufkin area. She was well known as a realtor associated with Gann Medford Real Estate. She won Realtor of the Year in 1993, served as President of the Association of Realtors in 1999, served as MLS President, served on Membership Committee, Hospitality Committee, TREPAC and Education Committee. She was a Christian and a lifelong member of Burke United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her children, son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Debbie Burrous of Nacogdoches; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Scott Grimes of Elysian Fields; son, Ronnie Hines of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lana Hines of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Michael and Kara Burrous of Richmond, Jennifer Grimes of Elysian Fields, USAF Major William B. and Jennifer Burrous of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Chris and Sabrina Grimes of Marshall, Sara and Todd Baker of Lufkin, Ashley and R.L. Lyles of Lufkin, and Allie Hines of College Station; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Emily Burrous, Chloe and Maddie Burrous, Grant Grimes, Alise and Grace Richard, and Anslee Lyles; “special” family, Lanny and Paula Parish, Sherice Burton, Melba Poskey, Earlene Thigpen, and Bonnie Hannah; as well as numerous cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, William J. “Billy” Burrous and Glenn B. Hines.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael Burrous, Brad Burrous, Chris Grimes, R.L. Lyles, Jr., Todd Baker, and special “son”, Ray Lenderman.
Honorary pallbearer will be her great-grandson, Tyler Burrous.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the loving care given to Juanita by Dr. Richard Roby and Dr. P. Kumar and staffs; caregivers, Kim Shivers, Norman Blessings, Heather Denby, Kathy Pender, Rhonda Baxter, Bettina Baskette and Sarah Wheeler; special friend and hairdresser, Tonya Mathews; Hospice in the Pines and especially nurses Emily and Brittany; CNA Ms. Evia; social worker, Tracy and Chaplain Roy; and her church family from Burke United Methodist Church.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
