Funeral services for J.T. Smith, 87, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John Boone and Reverend Doc Lazarine officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery with military honors provided by a United States Navy Honor Guard.

Mr. Smith was born March 22, 1932 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Estille (Hillard) and Claudie Smith, and died Wednesday, June 26, 2019 in a local hospice facility.

Mr. Smith resided in Lufkin most of his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He owned and operated The Water Store in Lufkin for more than 15 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Beverly Komakowski of Zavalla; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Melody Smith of Huntington; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Agnes Smith; and brothers, Rual Smith and Charles Smith.

Pallbearers will be Koyte Smith, Kade Moore, Kane Moore, Jakob Smith, Jay Eagle, Rual Eric Smith and Roane Smith.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
