Funeral services for Joyce Read, 89, of Huntington will be held Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Lamar Denby officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Read was born July 10, 1929 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Ollie Ann (O’Quinn) and Grady D. Colbert, and died Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in a local hospice facility.

Mrs. Read was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. She was a hard worker who took pride in keeping an immaculate house. Mrs. Read was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was a devoted caretaker to her son Michael. She had a great sense of humor. Mrs. Read enjoyed playing dominos and going fishing with her sister Jo. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughter, Olivia Joy Havard of Huntington; granddaughters, Jennifer Hopper and husband Jaime and Stephanie Dilday, all of Huntington; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Carson and Aiden Hopper, Christie, Taylor and Jase Dilday; great-great-granddaughter, Chrislynn Hawley; sisters, Jean Fox and Jo Teer, both of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Eugene Read; son, Michael Eugene Read; and grandson-in-law, Chris Dilday.

Pallbearers will be Jaime Hopper, Jimmy Hendricks, Hunter Hopper, Carson Hopper, Aiden Hopper, Taylor Dilday, Jase Dilday, and Chandler Hawley.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Friday morning prior to the services.
