Joyce Griffith McCarty

Funeral services for Joyce Griffith McCarty, 77, of Lufkin will be held Friday, April 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Pastor Steven Sanders and Brother Marlow Shubert officiating. Interment will follow at Rocky Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. McCarty was born September 2, 1948 in Etoile, Texas to the late Elnora (Denman) and James Arthur Griffith, and died Monday, April 13, 2026 in a local hospital. She resided in Lufkin most of her life and worked at Abney and Medford Hardware for 17 years. Mrs. McCarty was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and they adored her. She enjoyed oil painting. Mrs. McCarty was a member of New Life United Pentecostal Church in Huntington.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Robbie Reppond of Pollok, and Rodney and Dede McCarty of Lufkin; daughter, Tammy Tutt; grandchildren, Larry Tutt, Jr. and wife Savannah of Texas City, Rachel Allen, all of Lufkin, Jennifer Shipman and husband David of Nacogdoches, Matt Hudgins, Mark Hudgins, both of Broaddus, Kaylee McCarty and Amber McCarty, both of Lufkin; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Nathan Griffith and George Griffith, both of Huntington; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Dwain Forsythe of Nacogdoches; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Royce Thurman McCarty, Jr.; son-in-law, Larry Tutt, Sr.; and a number of siblings.

Pallbearers will be Larry Tutt, Jr., Sean Tutt, Jason Jones, Matt Hudgins, Mark Hudgins, and David Shipman.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon prior to the services.
