A reception for Joy L. Simonson, 75, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Carroway Family Reception Room. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mrs. Simonson was born May 22, 1943, in Reed, Oklahoma to the late Cleta Juanette (Rae) and Haskell K. Knight and died Thursday, July 19, 2018, in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Simonson was raised in Levelland, Texas. She moved to Lufkin in December 2014 from Carthage, where she had lived for 35 years. As a loving homemaker and CNA, it was evident her passion was taking care of people. She enjoyed reading and was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Simonson of Lufkin; sons, Rickie Oliver of Corrigan and Johnny Oliver and wife Janna of Pascagula, Mississippi; daughters, Cyndi Adams and husband Mike of Lufkin and Misty Bryan and husband John of Beckville; stepdaughter, Ami Herl of Phoenix, Arizona; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Margarett Ann “Pecky” Davis and husband Gerald of Levelland, Jo Stutzman and husband Steve of Graham, and Sandy Powell of Stanford; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marie Warlick, Sue Surrett, and Judy Grant; and brother, Ray “Butch” Knight.
