Joy Parker

Graveside services for Joy Parker, 86, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in Gann Cemetery with Brother Steve Cowart officiating.

Mrs. Parker was born December 24, 1939 in Lufkin, Texas, the youngest of seven children, to the late Dora Alice (Nobles) and Jim Crowder Dixon, and died Wednesday, July 22, 2026 in Huntington, Texas.

Joy had resided in Lufkin most of her life. She retired from Central ISD as Librarian after 20 years of service and worked at Carroway Funeral Home for close to 20 years as a Visitation Attendant. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and took great pride in loving and caring for her children. “Goy”, as she was known to her nieces and nephews, treated them all as if they were her own. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and gardening. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas, and went all out when decorating. Joy was a faithful member of O’Quinn Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Cody and Kristy Parker of Lufkin; grandsons, Clancy Parker and wife Allie of Carthage, Chandler Parker and wife Katie of Lufkin, Caydin Parker and wife Presley of Conroe; granddaughter, Kallie Parker of New Orleans, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Bennett Clay Parker and Camden James Parker; daughter-in-law, Kathy Walker; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen “Sonny” Parker; sons, Perry Dixon Parker and Allen Clay Parker; and all six of her siblings.
