Joy Hutto Eagle

Funeral services for Joy Hutto Eagle, 91, of Lufkin will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with The Reverend Randall K. Green and Todd Stracener officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Eagle was born November 25, 1932 in Center, Texas to the late Rachael Evelena (Wood) and Ottis Hutto, and died Monday, June 24, 2024 in a local hospice facility.

Mrs. Eagle resided in Lufkin most of her life. She retired from LISD where she was a Library Aide, working at the High School and both Jr. High East and West. She was a devoted military wife for many years. Her husband, Joe, served in the U.S. Navy, Air Force, and Army. Mrs. Eagle was a member of the Sweet Adelines Singing Group and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi, Chapter Laureate Etta Chi Sorority and was a charter member of Christ Congregational Church.

Survivors include her son, Jay Gardner Eagle and wife Tonia of Lufkin; daughter, Becky Eagle of League City; grandchildren, Misti Michelle Eagle of Onalaska, Joe Gardner Eagle, Jacey Grace Eagle, both of Lufkin, Christopher Chase Hubbard and wife Stefanie of Frederick, Maryland, Casey Kirkland Hubbard of Florida, and James Maurice “Deuce” Hubbard II of Buckhead, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Logan Scott Eagle and Keirslyn Cameron Zugar; sister, Mary Beth Hutto Wilson and husband Tom Ed of Chandler, Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, Joe Gayle Eagle; daughter, Gaylyn Eagle Hubbard; and brothers, Charles Douglas Hutto and Ottis Clifton Hutto.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
