Joseph Shannon McGuire, 55, of Lufkin died Monday, June 19, 2023 at his residence. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Lufkin First UPC with Ministers Joe Stanley and Leon Wallace officiating.
Shannon was born June 4, 1968 in Lufkin, Texas. He was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and was employed at East Texas Electric. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting, and music, and was an awesome guitar and harmonica player. He also enjoyed building things with his hands. Shannon loved his dog Razor so very much and had an amazing bond with him. Everyone loved Shannon. He was always acting goofy and making everyone laugh. He was a hard worker and put all he had into any job he had, no matter how small.
Survivors include his wife, Christene (Craig) Mcguire of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Erica (McGuire) and Jose Morales of Little Rock, Arkansas; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Britan and Garry Smith, Alexandria (Matcek) and Jose Ibarra, all of Lufkin, and Toni Matcek of Houston; grandchildren, Emberly Morales and Xavian Morales of Little Rock, Arkansas; step-grandchildren, Kurt, Delilan and Luke Smith, Adalena and Julian Ibarra, all of Lufkin; mother and stepfather, Linda and Joe Kelley of Lufkin; father, Jerry Glenn McGuire of Pollok; brother, Jeffery McGuire of Pollok; sister and brother-in-law, Stacie (McGuire) and Todd Oneal; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Flora and Elmer Lynn and Glen and Lucille McGuire.
