Jose Cruz Barrera, Jr.

A private Mass for Jose Cruz Barrera, Jr., 42, of Lufkin will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Fr. Luis Fernando Arroyave officiating. Private interment will be in the Forest Haven Cemetery.

Mr. Barrera was born August 28, 1978 in Lufkin, Texas, and died Saturday, January 2, 2021 in a local hospital. He loved music, ice cream and his Disney movies. Mr. Barrera was a loving son and brother and was beloved by many. He attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Survivors include his parents, Maria (Espino) and Jose Barrera, Sr. of Lufkin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and Ruben Acevedo, Vanessa and Sergio Ramos, and Crystal Barrera, all of Diboll; brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Denise Barrera of Diboll and Mark and Silvia Barrera of Lufkin; nieces and nephews, Jasmin, Nicole, Tony, Dana, Danica, Daniel, Damian, Carla, Aileen, Jocelyn, Ruben, Christian, Alyssa, Thiago, and Elena; uncle and aunt, Jose and Lidia Salais of Katy; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marcelino and Nicolasa Espino and Jose Cruz and Paula Barrera.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Barrera, Mark Barrera, Christian Terrazas, Antonio Santana, Sergio Ramos, and Ruben Acevedo.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.
