Graveside services for Johnny Hiram Truett, 62, of Huntington will be held Monday, October 27, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Crain Cemetery.
Johnny was born April 22, 1963 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Sandra Gale (Hawkins) and Charles Kenneth Truett, and died Friday, October 24, 2025 at his residence.
Johnny was a proud equipment operator for Angelina County and a boilermaker known for working shutdowns, being a floor man, refusing to climb the stairs, but still known for his hard work. A true friend to all who knew him, Johnny never met a stranger. You could usually hear his laughter before you saw him walk into the room.
An avid outdoorsman, Johnny found peace and joy in nature. He loved to fish and could often be found spending time on the Neches River, where he felt most at home.
Johnny was saved and baptized at Shawnee Prairie Baptist Church, living his life as a man of God. Though he might have been a little rough around the edges and hard to handle at times, he was deeply loved by all who knew him.
Known around town as a rugged “outlaw” cruising the streets in his beloved golf cart, Johnny left behind stories, smiles and memories that will be cherished for years to come. Above all else, he was a devoted father who loved his family dearly - and that love will forever live on in their hearts.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Kaylea Truett and Hunter McCaa of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Sterlin and Kady Wall of Broaddus; grandchildren, Trenton McCaa, Rayleigh McCaa, Axel Wall, Landry Brister, and Hiram McCaa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Vanessa Truett, and Carl and Tonya Truett, all of Wells; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Todd Totin of Wells; numerous nieces and nephews; and longtime best friend, Alan Cassels.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Kenneth and Janic Truett; mother, Sandra (Hawkins) Kurth; and sister, Melissa Truett.
Pallbearers will be Carl Truett, Alan Cassels, Glenn Thornton, Donnie Hawkins, DeWayne Hawkins, and Sterlin Wall.
Honorary pallbearers will be his many friends both on Earth and in Heaven.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin.
