Funeral services for John William West, 73, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roger Fancher officiating. A private burial will be held in Rocky Hill Cemetery.

Mr. West was born November 8, 1952 in Sacramento, California to the late Margaret Ann (Moye) and John Leo West, and died Sunday, May 17, 2026 in a local hospice facility.

John was a welder and was employed with Brown & Root, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing dominoes in his younger years. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Hazel West of Lufkin; along with numerous relatives including his children, siblings, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning prior to the service.
