John H. "Pete" White Iii

Funeral services for John H. “Pete” White III, 93, of Huntington will be held Monday, October 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Pastor Scooter Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery.

Mr. White was born May 22, 1930 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Nona Lee (Collier) and John Henry White II, and died Saturday, October 7, 2023 in a local hospice facility.

Pete was self-employed and worked as a logging contractor and was a rancher. He was a true horseman and trained horses for people all over the United States. He adored his family and worked hard to provide for them. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Pete served as a Deacon at Highway Missionary Baptist Church and his current church, Oak Flat Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Pauline White of Huntington; children, Sherry Ramsey and husband Mark of Lufkin, Jerry “Bud” White and wife Debbie of Huntsville, Tami White of Huntington; grandchildren and spouses, Shane and Shellie Nerren, Blake Nerren, Marca and Alan Thigpen, all of Huntington, Whitney and Michael Walhof of Katy; great-grandchildren and spouses, Justin and Maria Nerren, Zack Nerren and Taylor Tashe, Chase Nerren, Tripp Thigpen, Hank Thigpen, all of Huntington, Julia Walhof, Sadie Walhof, both of Katy; great-great-grandchildren, Hadley Nerren, Case Nerren, Cole Nerren, all of Huntington; brother, Jerold Runnels of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Judy Runnels of Huntington; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Allen Stewart; and brothers, Kenneth Runnels and Mike Runnels.

Pallbearers will be Shane Nerren, Blake Nerren, Justin Nerren, Zack Nerren, Chase Nerren, and Michael Walhof.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones at a visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at the funeral home in Huntington.
