John Eldon Werner

Funeral services for John Eldon Werner, 88, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Harmony Hill Baptist Church with Dr. John W. Greene officiating. A private family interment will be held in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Werner was born September 28, 1935 in El Paso, Texas to the late Hilda (Wiles) and Eldon Allen Werner, and died Monday, June 17, 2024 at his residence.

John had resided in Lufkin for almost 60 years and was the owner of the Lufkin NAPA Auto Parts store. He graduated from Centinary College in Shreveport, Louisiana and proudly served his country in the United States Army. John was a very simple man, but always believed in dressing up for special occasions. He also took great pride in his yard and enjoyed doing yardwork. He was a hunter and fisherman, but more than anything else, he loved his family and time spent with them. John was a believer and attended Harmony Hill Baptist Church in his later years.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Paula Werner of Lufkin; grandchildren, John Ryan Werner, Rebecca Werner of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Korbin, Haven and Fallon, all of Lufkin; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Carolyn Werner.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning prior to the service.
