John Wayne Tims

Funeral services for John Wayne Tims, 76, of Huntington will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Highway Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Lamar Denby officiating.

Mr. Tims was born February 15, 1950 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Mary Jane (King) and J.W. Tims, and died Sunday, November 1, 2026 at his residence.

John worked for Exxon as a mechanic craftsman and boilermaker, retiring after more than 32 years of service. He served in the United States Army, and he was a member of the Sampson Masonic Lodge #231 A.F. & A.M. in Highlands for more than 35 years. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He took great delight in taking people out to eat and would never let anyone leave hungry or thirsty. He loved classic cars, tinkering on things, hunting and fishing. John was a faithful member of Highway Missionary Baptist Church and truly loved his church family.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Becky (Sonnier) Tims of Huntington; sons and daughters-in-law, Walter and Mary Tims of Anahuac, Christopher and Jennifer Tims of Highlands; grandchildren and spouses, Wyatt and Maycee, Jewel, Ashten, Taylor and Haley, Caleb, Aidan and Frankie; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Martin; sister, Mary Sue Pittman; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Ann Albright, Vicky Ruth Tims, Deloris Faye Mason; and brother, John Paul Tims.

Pallbearers will be Wyatt Tims, Taylor Tims, Caleb Tims, Aidan Tims, Walter Tims, Martin Martinez, and Johnny Reasoner.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon prior to the service at the church.
