Graveside services for John Risenhoover, 89, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, February 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gann Cemetery with Brother Joe Stanley officiating.
Mr. Risenhoover was born August 19, 1931 in Trinity, Texas to the late Minnie (Armstrong) and Younger William Risenhoover, and died Friday, February 25, 2022 at his residence.
Mr. Risenhoover had resided in Corrigan for 40 years prior to moving to Lufkin 15 years ago. He was a Postal Carrier for more than 20 years. He devoted his life to the military and was proud to have retired from the United States Army as a Command Sergeant Major. He was a member of the German Masonic Jewel TRUTH & FRIENDSHIP Lodge No. 828 A.F. & A. M. in Furth, Bavaria, Germany. Mr. Risenhoover was a member of Damascus Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Kathy Risenhoover of Lufkin; granddaughters and husbands, Jessica and David Talley of Lufkin, Julia and Robert Leggett of Yuma, Arizona; grandson, Jason Risenhoover of Lufkin; great-granddaughters, Madalyn Talley, McKenzie Talley, both of Lufkin; great-grandson, Micah Talley of Lufkin; and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlotte Risenhoover; three brothers; and one sister.
Pallbearers will be Jessie Nash, Larry Green, Billy Glover, Darrell Luce, Randy Luce, and David Talley.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
