Funeral services for John Joseph Pollino, 81, of Huntington will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend David Hunt and Reverend Randall McCoy officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Rocky Hill Cemetery
John Joseph Pollino was born May 29, 1944 in Jamestown, New York to the late John Vincent and Rose Sarah (Cammarata) Pollino, and passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his wife and family.
Mr. Pollino served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as an Airman First Class. He met his wife of 57 years, Burda Faye, at church in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Mr. Pollino and his family moved to the Rocky Hill Community where he resided for the past 47 years. Mr. Pollino worked at Southwest Color Printing Company until he retired. He and his wife attended Eastview UPC in Lufkin under the pastorship of Reverend David Hunt. His hobbies were listening to music, his grandkids, and making sure his “sunshine” was taken care of
Survivors include his wife, Burda Faye Pollino; son, John Brady Pollino and wife Glenda of Lufkin; daughter, Stephanie Castleberry and husband Cary of Huntington; grandsons, Blake Pollino and wife Amber, Blane Pollino and wife Lauren, Brock Pollino and wife Linsie, Alec Castleberry and wife Hailey, Zac Castleberry and fiancée Layci; granddaughter and spouse, Abbie (“pretty little girl”) and Christian Brock; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters-in-law and eight brothers-in-law, Phynice Fuller, Myrl and Reverend B.H. McCoy, Prentice Morehead, Henry Morehead, Boots Morehead, W.J. Morehead, Tot Morehead, LaMorris Morehead and Verble Morehead.
Pallbearers will be Blake Pollino, Brock Pollino, Alec Castleberry, Zac Castleberry, Christian Brock, and Kevin Porter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Blane Pollino and Leon Stricklen.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning prior to the services.
