John was born at home in Groveton, Texas September 24, 1939 to parents Ira Lee and Bertrice Leona (Skains) Mullins, and peacefully passed away at his home during the morning of Thursday, December 21, 2023.
After twenty years of service, John was proud to be a retired Lufkin firefighter. He enjoyed not only serving others but brought a sense of joy and happiness to his fellow firefighters and everyone he met. There was never a negative word about him...
Outside of the fire service, his greatest love and joy was his family and close friends. He and his wife, Pat, were married 62 years until her passing in May 2022. They raised three God fearing daughters who have carried on their legacy. He was an active member of O’Quinn Baptist Church for many years, until he became a member of Pollok Baptist Church later in life.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, landscaping his yard, tinkering with any small engine, and any outdoor activities with his family and close friends.
