John Robert Mckee

Memorial services for John Robert McKee, 68, of Huntington will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Huntington First Baptist Church with Dr. Darryl Smith officiating.

Mr. McKee was born June 29, 1949 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Christine (Wagner) McKee and Robert Eugene McKee, and passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017.

John could build or repair most anything, earning him the nickname "MacGyver" both at home and at work, where his varied skillset served him well as he traveled to exotic locations all over the world working in the oilfield as a rig supervisor. Besides being an electrician, he was also a Master Mercury Mechanic and loved spending time on the water. His interests included boating, traveling, watching bad sci-fi on TV, and spoiling his grandkids. Animals and children loved him. He was patient and kind, and quick to lend a hand to those in need. He was a great man who will be sorely missed by his friends and family who were not ready for him to be called away.

He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Sue McKee; daughter and son-in-law, Shanna and Jeremy Crew, their children Devon, Weston, and Evangeline; son and daughter-in-law, Tyea and Ryan McKee, their children Austin and Morgan Reid; son of his heart, Michael Trevino and Sharon Montgomery, their daughters Kira Leger and Emily Trevino; his sister Cynthia Stedman, her sons Aaron and John; his mother-in-law, Fay Cummings; Wilma Wilder, Sharon Fuller, and Randi Spears.

We ask that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Huntington Food Program at Huntington First Baptist Church, 702 N. Main Street, Huntington, Texas 75949, where he worked as a volunteer.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon prior to the services.
