John William Hodges

Graveside services for John William Hodges, 81, of Burke will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Ryan Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Ronnie Frankens officiating.

Mr. Hodges was born January 11, 1941 in Burke, Texas to the late Curtis Hodges and Iva (Ryan) Hodges, and died Friday, April 1, 2022 in Burke.

Mr. Hodges loved the outdoors and yardwork, mowing and gardening were all great pastimes. He was a quiet and private man. He enjoyed listening to original country music and old gospel songs. Mr. Hodges was an avid deer hunter and fisherman in his youth. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his family, they were his pride and joy. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia (Wiggins) Hodges of Burke; daughters and son-in-law, Deborah Hodges and fiancé Randy Allison and Lisa and Albert Rios, all of Burke; grandchildren, Jarron Sinclair, Holyn Sinclair, Jackson Sinclair, all of Burke, and Owen Willson and wife of Hudson; step-granddaughter, Desteny Blackburn of Hudson; brothers and sister-in-law, Wayne “Lightnin” Hodges of Burke and David Lee and Glenda Hodges of Central; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and John Smith of Burke; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim Hodges and Eugene Hodges; and two sisters-in-law.

Pallbearers will be Jarron Sinclair, Albert Rios, Owen Willson, Frank Willson, JonPaul Sinclair, and Randy Allison.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
