Joe Mayford Stringer fulfilled his earthly duties to his country and his family on September 17, 2025. He entered Heaven’s gate while surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 27, 1948 in Lufkin, Texas, he was the son of Elmer and Haskie Stringer. Joe attended Lufkin High School where he graduated in 1967. During this time, he excelled in football and baseball. After high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and served as a Military Policeman in the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he attended Angelina College and later began a career in computer programming. He retired from Fiserv and devoted over three decades to the company. He wore many hats to provide for his family, but his most cherished job was being a husband, daddy and Paw Paw to the family he loved so dearly.

Joe was a devout Christian and conveyed his faith in God. He was a member of Promise Land Baptist Church in Lufkin, Texas. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with family, traveling and watching sports. He was an avid Houston Astros and Dallas Cowboys fan. He also supported his grandkids in sports and dance. They could always count on looking in the stands or auditorium and seeing Paw Paw cheering them on. Joe will be remembered for his big heart and willingness to help when needed. His loving nature was felt by those who knew him. His greatest pride was his family. He never failed to give you a wink or tell you he loved you more. To know Joe was to love him.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Carolyn Stringer; son, Joseph Scott Stringer of Austin, Texas; daughters, Kimberly Stringer-Eaves and husband Ronnie of Lumberton, Texas, Dedra Jo Moore and Ryan of Lufkin, Texas; son, Dylan Joe Stringer and wife Alexis of Lumberton, Texas; bonus daughter, Melanie Franklin and bonus son, Bryan Franklin, both of Lufkin; grandchildren, Mallory Jo, Kendall, Ronnie, Aidan, Hadley and Remi; bonus grandchildren, Johnathan and Katy Windham, Timothy and Lindzey Windham and Linzy and Jesus Solis, Bodhi, Olympia, and Gloria; great-grandchildren, Archer, Ledger Mayford and Kolter; bonus great-grandchildren, Hunter, Jaycee, Avery, Easton, Jax and Charleigh; siblings, Wayne Stringer and wife Novis of New Boston, Kathy Smith and husband Kenny of Palestine; along with a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
