Joe Pickard

Funeral services with military honors for Joe Pickard, 99, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jackson Colwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Pickard was born October 17, 1926 in Zavalla, Texas to the late Millie M. (Roberts) and Jerome B. Pickard, and died Sunday, November 30, 2025 in a local hospital.

Mr. Pickard had resided in Lufkin for most of his life. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and a World War II Veteran. Mr. Pickard was employed by the Texas Employment Commission in the claims department for 20 years. He was of Baptist faith.

Survivors include his nephew and spouse, James and Charlotte Pickard of Lake Fork; niece, Martha Daily of Forney; nephew and spouse, Mark and Sherry Pickard of Zavalla; niece and spouse, Lynn and Billy Weaver of Zavalla; niece and spouse, Linda and Ed Holstien of Georgetown; and nephew, Tommy Pickard of Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and four brothers.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon prior to the service.
