Joe Wesley Marshall

Memorial services for Joe Wesley Marshall, 80, of Zavalla, will be held Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Louie Lawson officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Marshall was born October 27, 1937 in the Concord Community of Angelina County, Texas, the son of the late Lola Pearl (Mott) and John Ernest Marshall. He died Saturday, July 28, 2018 at his residence in Zavalla.

Mr. Marshall had resided in the Zavalla area all his life. His last employment was as a foreman for Angelina County, Precinct 4. In his younger years, he was an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Marshall’s greatest pleasure had been his grandchildren and family. Mr. Marshall was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Wanda (Williams) Marshall of Zavalla; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Stacey Marshall of Zavalla; daughters and sons-in-law, Denisea and Danny Ross of Huntington, Sunny and Troy Day of Bridge City; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Marshall of Bowling Green, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Ernest and Kevin Marshall; three brothers; and three sisters.

The family wishes to thank Tapanga Williams, Papa’s Angel, for all the support, love, and care she gave him while never leaving his bedside in his final days.
