Joe D. Basham, Sr.

Graveside services for Joe D. Basham, Sr., 82, of Pollok will be held Friday, March 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gann Cemetery under the auspices of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M., with Brother John Williams officiating.

Mr. Basham was born November 18, 1935 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Reba (Davis) and William Dale Basham, and died Monday, March 19, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Basham was a lifetime resident of Pollok. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelors Degree in Business. Mr. Basham served in the U.S. Army and worked as an electrical lineman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 66 for 42 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M., and a member of the Shrine Temple. Mr. Basham attended United Faith Church.

Survivors include his grandsons, Joseph Todd Basham, Sr. and wife Jennifer of Lufkin and Coty Basham and wife Jennifer of Huntington; granddaughters, Ronnie Basham of Magnolia and Christal Iguess and husband Nathan of Lufkin; great-grandsons, PFC Joseph Todd Basham, Jr. and wife Haley of Fort Wheeler, Hawaii, PFC Casin Boyd of Fort Hood, Texas, Cameron Basham of Lufkin, Justin Basham of Huntington, and Max Iguess and wife Katy of Hudson; great-granddaughters, Kori Hunter Basham, Jonnie Nicole Basham, both of Lufkin, Claire Edwards of Magnolia, Joie Edwards, Chaz Boyd, both of Lufkin, Taylor Basham of Huntington, and Mikayla Iguess of Tyler; brother, Don Basham of Pollok; sister, Helen Thrasher of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillie M. (O’Quinn) Basham; and son, Joe D. “Joey” Basham, Jr.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
