Funeral services for Jody Brett “Buckwheat” Clowers, 57, of Lufkin will be held Monday, February 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Stephen Courtney officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Clowers was born March 6, 1966 in Kettering, Ohio to the late Peggy Jan (Butler) and Harliss Dobbin Clowers, and died Thursday, February 15, 2024 in a local hospice facility.
He resided in Lufkin most of his life and was a retired manager for Walmart, where he was employed for more than 30 years. Mr. Clowers loved his children, grandchildren and his dogs. He enjoyed riding the back roads and making “hey” rounds. He loved to cook and was known for his briskets.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Shelby and Chad Modisette of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Colton and Makayla Clowers of De Kalb; grandchildren, Stetson, Laramie, Cinch, Magnolia, Kane, and Rowan; his dog, Ringo; and lifelong friends, Chad Richey, Mike Cates, Bryan McBride, Ricky Schmidt, and Vanessa “V-Baby” Bridges, and many more.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dobbin and Peggy Clowers; son, Dakota Clowers; and brother, James Clowers.
Pallbearers will be Chad Richey, Mike Cates, Bryan McBride, Ricky Schmidt, Early Cantu, and Juan Garcia.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gage Richey, Chance Richey, Zach Richey, and Vanessa Bridges.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
