A Celebration of Life for Jimmy Collins Torres, 69, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Michael E. Scott officiating. Cremation will follow under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Torres was born April 11, 1957 in Etoile, Texas to the late Simona (Collins) and Pablo Torres, and died Tuesday, September 15, 2026 in Lufkin. He was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and a 1975 graduate of Lufkin High School.

Mr. Torres was a master carpenter and craftsman and loved sharing his creations. His woodworking was his passion and some of his work can be seen at Stephen F. Austin State University, the History Center in Diboll, the Chapel at First United Methodist Church Lufkin, and the CHI St. Luke’s Health Medical Building.

He enjoyed fishing, playing a good game of cornhole at the VFW every week and spending Sunday evenings with his brothers, friends, and family. He attended Hillcrest Baptist Church. His nieces and nephews recall attending church with Uncle Jimmy and playing sports at family gatherings. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren that he adored. He attended their sports events and coached his granddaughter’s softball team.

Survivors include his wife, Karla (Oglesby) Torres of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Cory and Tricia Torres of San Antonio; son, Erik Torres of Harker Heights; daughter, Shannon Torres of Lufkin; grandchildren, Caleb Torres, Lauren Torres, of San Antonio, Hadley Torres-Blanton of Lufkin, Aaron Torres, Eli Torres, and Anna Torres, of Harker Heights; niece and nephew, Erin and Jonathon Oglesby; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pablo, Jr. and Lynn Torres, Tony and Shelia Torres, Michael and Jeannie Torres, Johnny and Mary Torres, of Lufkin, and Henry and Michelle Torres of Fort Worth; sister and brother-in-law, Belinda and Richard Yount of Huntington; sisters-in-law, Jeannie Torres and Ann Torres; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and close family friend, Ramon Marines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Louis Torres, Daniel Torres, and Ruben Torres.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the services.
