Jimmie Lee Nerren Havard

November 1, 1931 — November 22, 2017

Funeral services for Jimmie Lee Nerren Havard, 86, of the Shawnee Prairie Community will be held Friday, November 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Interment will follow in the Poland Cemetery.

Mrs. Havard passed peacefully from her last weeks of suffering and pain into the loving arms of “her people” and her Lord Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Affectionately known as “Nanny” by all who loved her, she left this world surrounded by adoring family who sent her on her heavenly journey while singing songs to her that she knew and loved.

Jimmie Lee was born to Floyd and Pearl Nerren November 1, 1931 in the rural farming community of Shawnee Prairie. Her strong work ethic was developed early in her life and was maintained throughout her 86 years. She was a gifted hair stylist and a proud business owner for over 40 years, developing lifelong clients who became lifelong friends. She ended her professional career without hesitation to care for her ailing father throughout the last years of his life.

Jimmie Lee was fiercely proud of her family. Sunday lunches with Nanny at “The Prairie” were a weekly source of discussion and anticipation. The stories of her childhood and her years spent raising her 3 sons provided many hours of entertainment, laughter, and life lessons. Her life was enriched throughout her years by phone calls from grandchildren and great-grandchildren requesting recipes, home remedies and sound advice. Her colorful and straightforward assessments of daily life will be cherished and fondly quoted for generations to come.

She is preceded in death by Carl Havard, her husband of 66 years; her parents; and her brother and sister-in-law, R.B and Gladys Nerren.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Beverly Havard of Huntington, Texas; sons, Bob Havard and Larry Havard, also of Huntington; granddaughters and spouses, Julie and Lawrence Parker, Amy and Toby Roland, Jamie and James Langlinais, Jenny and Cory Hines, Jennifer and Marvin Sullivan; grandsons and spouses, Richard and Courtney Havard, Ryan and Casey Havard; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and niece, Evonne Nerren.

Pallbearers will be Martin Brashear, Shoel Brashear, Gene Havard, Milt Bradford, Randy Lowery, and Edwin Buford.

Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Havard.

The family would like to express heartfelt love and appreciation for extraordinary care to the PineCrest Rehab staff, PineCrest George Henderson staff, and the caregivers at The Joseph House.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to The Joseph House, P.O. Box 150554, Lufkin, Texas 75915.
