Funeral services for Jim Hodge, 92, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Chestnut Drive Baptist Church with Brother Blackie Cranford officiating. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning prior to the services. Entombment will be held Friday in the Crestview Memorial Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Mr. Hodge was born September 13, 1925 in Cuero, Texas to the late Helen Catherine (Brittion) and Elias Wallace Hodge, and died Sunday, December 17, 2017 in a local nursing home.
Mr. Hodge had resided in Lufkin approximately 20 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was employed with Brown & Root for 32 years. Mr. Hodge was a member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed woodworking and was known for working with cedar. He was a member of Chestnut Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, James, Jr. and Katherine Hodge of Washington; daughter, Kathy Morehead of Huntington; stepson and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Cindy Henderson of Etoile; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Kent McArthur of North Carolina; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Brick Hodge of Houston; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Mary Louise (Mason) Hodge, Elsie Lena (Rodgers) Hodge, and Dorothy May (Audus) Hodge; sister, Helen Swartz.
Pallbearers will be Brady Lawson, Cameron McClendon, and the Deacons of Chestnut Drive Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chestnut Drive Baptist Church, 1701 S. Chestnut Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
