Funeral services with military honors for Jim Atteberry, 83, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mr. Atteberry was born November 18, 1941 in Brownsville, Texas to the late Orrin (Ricks) and Phillip Clark Atteberry, Sr., and died Monday, November 3, 2025 at his residence.
Mr. Atteberry served for 15 years in the U.S. Army and worked as a service technician for 30 years. He was a member of The Foundry Assembly of God.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Jessica and Tyler Elumbaugh of San Augustine, Janet Atteberry and Jean Donald, both of California; grandchildren, Zakk Donald and Jaelen Elumbaugh; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Ricky Sammons of Huntington; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Gwen Atteberry; father, Phillip Clark Atteberry, Sr.; mother and stepfather, Orrin and Bill Felice; brothers, Wayne Felice and Phillip Atteberry, Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Candy and Lloyd Nall; nephews, Benji Nall and Jason Sammons; and niece, JoAnna Felice.
Pallbearers will be Jarrod Pinner, Carl Putnam, Josh Tesillo, Wayne Rhodes, Jr., Mark Phillips, and Jason Dickerson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jaelen Elumbaugh, Ricky Sammons, Wayne Rhodes, Sr., Billy Loftis, and Zakk Donald.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
