Jill Noland Adams passed away on December 19, 2025 surrounded by family. Born February 27, 1948 in Hillsboro, Texas, she was the daughter of Jane and Howard Noland.
Jill graduated from Lufkin High School in 1966 and attended Stephen F. Austin State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and a Masters Degree in Education. In 1970, Jill began a 39-year teaching career with Lufkin Independent School District. Jill touched the lives of hundreds of children throughout this time, always offering her gift of educating along with love that extended far beyond the classroom. She often tutored children after school who otherwise could not afford it, and had a heart for those less fortunate, especially her students and their families.
Jill was known for having a witty sense of humor, compassion for others and deep love for her family and friends. In her later years, Jill was proud to be a charter member of Christ Congregational Church in Lufkin.
Jill is survived by her daughter and son in law, Janellen and Joe Reid of McKinney; daughter, Joanna Adams of Henderson; her devoted companion, David Mott of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Cooper Castleberry of Lufkin; grandchildren, Alyssa Adams of Henderson, Caroline and Ryan Reid of McKinney, and Katelyn Rutherford of Henderson; great-grandson, Leo Rutiaga of Henderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Our family extends thanks to the staff of PineCrest Retirement Community and the nurses and staff of Hospice in the Pines for the excellent care given to Jill. We especially thank her devoted and loving caregiver and friend, Annette Taylor, who has generously cared for her in countless ways. We truly have overwhelming gratitude for her dedication to Jill.
