Jessie Henry Church

Funeral services for Jessie Henry Church, 85, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with his nephew, Bobby Moore, officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mr. Church was born June 20, 1935 in Tarkington Prairie, Texas to the late Lena (Reeves) and William Henry “Bill” Church, and died Monday, August 17, 2020 at his residence.

Mr. Church had resided in Angelina County most of his life. He worked for various logging companies as a skidder operator for many years. He enjoyed trotline fishing and camping. Mr. Church was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Brian Faulkner of Hudson, Carolyn and Peter Savery of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Jessica and Ryan Mahr of Hudson, Hunter Thomas and girlfriend Seely Stewart of Fort Worth, Dustin and Kelsey Thomas of Broaddus, Harley Thomas of Hudson, Gunner Savery, Michael Savery, both of Lufkin, Kristen Faulkner and Mason Faulkner, both of Hudson; great-grandchildren, MaKayla, Raleigh and Easton Mahr, Aubree Thomas, Bryson and Ryker Savery; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Cathie Church of Huntington; sisters and brother-in-law, Sue Moore and J.W. Knight of Lufkin and Betty Church of Georgetown; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 41 years, Barbara Sue (Hodges) Church; granddaughter, Kelly Thomas; brother, Walter Church; and nieces, Sandy Stephens and Sherry Moore.

Pallbearers will be Gunner Savery, Michael Savery, Mark Church, Daniel Thomas, Joe Church, and Joe Cole.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
