Jerry Lee Ward

Funeral services for Jerry Lee Ward, 86, of Pollok will be held Monday, November 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Kent Childers officiating. Interment will follow in Gann Cemetery.

Mr. Ward was born September 3, 1938 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Aletha (Ashley) and Thomas C. Ward, and died Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at his residence.

Mr. Ward retired from International Paper after 44 years as a logging contractor coordinator, surveyor, and draftsman. He was an avid hunter and also loved to fish. In his later years he got into woodworking, often getting inspiration from YouTube. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan through and through and shared his love for the team his whole life. Mr. Ward was a man of few words, preferring to listen rather than interject, but always kept his sense of humor. He was one of a kind, well loved, and will be dearly missed.

He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Carolyn (Stanley) Ward of Pollok; sons and daughter-in-law, Brian K. Ward of Paragould, Arkansas, and Steven and Jeanie Ward of Groveton; grandchildren, Kimberly Ward of Memphis, Tennessee, Jonathan Ward, Joshua Ward, both of Paragould, Arkansas, Jenna Hough and husband Landan of Lufkin, and Jeanna Vandagriff of Orange; two great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Melba Ward of Arkansas; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diane Ward Willmon.

Pallbearers will be former co-workers Tim Locke, Timmy Carpenter, Ricardo Masters, Steve McCoy, Kirk Tareilo, and Kenneth Weeks.

Honorary pallbearers will be former co-workers Earnest Rowe and Bobby Hawkins.

The family extends special thanks to the staff and chaplain at Harbor Hospice for their help and support.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon prior to the services.
