Jerry Dee Vineyard

Funeral services for Jerry Dee Vineyard, Sr., 81, of Huntington will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Richard Owen officiating. Interment will follow in the Shofner Cemetery.

Mr. Vineyard was born August 12, 1940 in Gorman, Texas to the late Fred Vineyard and Georgia Myrtle (Mathews) Vineyard Jones, and died Friday, February 18, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Vineyard served in the U.S. Army and owned Vineyard Construction. He loved to fish, hunt, and have conversations. He was known for spinning tales that have now become legends, such as “The Bisquit” and “Clothesline Grandkids”, among others. He was often heard saying, “Run Ray Run”.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Jay and Glenda Vineyard of Central, Melenda and Bobby Cole of Beulah, Bonnie and Mark Shows of Houston, Amanda and Richard Farley of Huntington, Debbie Vineyard of Lufkin, Fred and Kimberly Vineyard, Camillia “Millie” and Ray Coleman, and Ima and Chad Adams of Huntington; stepchildren and their spouses, Ronnie and Monica Lambert of Huntington, Tammy and Lyle Schwartz, Becky Lambert, all of Lufkin, and Benji and Lavonda Lambert of Huntington; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Rosie Lee Vineyard; wife of 25 years, Linda Lambert Vineyard; son, Gary Vineyard, grandson, David Keith Hutchison; father, Fred Vineyard; parents, Georgia Vineyard and Ray “Pappy” Jones; brother, Lonnie Jones; and grandmother, Otis Dee “Grandmother” Matthews.

Pallbearers will be Joe Dee Cole, Stephen Powell, Jerrod Vineyard, Joshua Lester, Marvin Rochelle, and Dillon Glawson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Vineyard, John Lester III, Jeremy Lester, Justin Adams, Tanis Adams, and Cody Schwartz.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
