Jerry W. "Mr. T." Taylor

Graveside services for Jerry W. “Mr. T.” Taylor, 73, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the Treadwell Cemetery in Huntington with Kent Henson officiating.

Mr. Taylor was born July 11, 1946, in Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Lilly Myrtle (Helm) and Isaac S. “Ike” Taylor.  He died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at his residence in Homer.

Mr. Taylor had resided in Homer for 38 years.  He was a retired Welding Instructor for the Lufkin Independent School District following 32 years of service.  His hobbies included gardening and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Carla Taylor of Homer; daughter and son-in-law, Dannette Rae and Adam Holley of Lufkin; granddaughter, Carly JoAnn Taylor; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Mary Taylor of Huntington; stepdaughter and spouse, Darlene and Tim Stewart of Apple Springs; stepson and spouse, Jimmy and Amelia Landers of Houston; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; three sisters; and stepdaughter, Sharon Landers.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Fairchild, Jerry Haubert, Derrick Linton, Dolan Procell, Darren Foreman, Will Cook, Adam Holley, and Billy Crawford.

Honorary pallbearers are Mr. Taylor’s former welding students from Lufkin ISD.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
