Graveside services for Jerry Lynn Campbell, Sr., 77, of Burkeville, formerly of Zavalla, will be held Monday, November 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in Concord Cemetery in Zavalla with Pastor Derick Jarrell officiating.
Mr. Campbell was born May 7, 1947 in Cass County, Texas to the late June Ladel (Waters) and Cabe Campbell, and died Thursday, October 31, 2024 in The Woodlands, Texas.
Jerry resided in Zavalla most of his life and worked as a Pipeline Welder. After retirement and moving to Burkeville, he taught Welding in Burkeville ISD for 16 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Anglelina Masonic Lodge #1263 A.F. & A.M. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved to barbeque. He and his wife, Kaye, each had their own bikes and enjoyed riding motorcycles. More than anything, Jerry loved to read his Bible and share the Word with others. He loved gospel music and played the bass guitar and drums with the Stanleys. Jerry was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Kaye Campbell of Zavalla; daughter and son-in-law, Annjannette and Scott Chapman of Maud, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Joey and Debbie Hicks of Atlanta, Texas, J.L. Campbell of Zavalla, Joshua and Becki Campbell of Texarkana, Arkansas; grandchildren, Katy Rodriguez, Alexis Campbell, Cabe Campbell, Joseph Campbell, Jaci Campbell, Nicole Cox, Paige Uveges, Matt Chapman, Chris Hicks; a number of great-grandchildren; brother, James Campbell of Texarkana, Arkansas; sister, Susan Johnson of Texarkana, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Jane Waters of Nash, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Brooklynn Campbell; and uncle, Dennis Waters.
Pallbearers will be Allen Mancil, Darmain Thomas, Mikey Miller, Cabe Campbell, Joseph Campbell, and George Crier.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Donor Development Office, 815 Market Street, Galveston, Texas 77550.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon prior to the service at the cemetery.
