Funeral services for Jeremy W. Welch, 38, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Brother Keith Bickley officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.

Jeremy was born August 2, 1983 in Lufkin, Texas to Becky Gail (Thornton) and Wayne Welch, and died Tuesday, May 4, 2022 in Lufkin.

Jeremy was a lifelong resident of Lufkin and graduated from Lufkin High School. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Agricultural Business. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but his real interest was in conservation and the care of our natural resources. This led him to working as a Natural Resource Specialist for the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board for 24 years. Jeremy was an avid Houston Astros baseball and Dallas Star hockey fan, and he always looked forward to his time spent joining his friends online for computer games. Jeremy could light up your day with his smile and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his mother, Becky Welch of Lufkin; brother, Justin K. Welch of Lufkin; grandmothers, Dixie Welch and Kay D. Thornton, both of Lufkin; uncles and aunts, Glenn and Jackie Thornton of Douglass, Wes and Connie Welch of Lufkin; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father in 2021, Wayne Welch; and grandfathers, Kenneth Welch and Jimmy Thornton.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning prior to the service at the church.
