Funeral services for JC Havard, 89, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Charles M. Roberts officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in Whitehouse Cemetery under the auspices of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M.

JC Havard passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Born May 16, 1935, JC lived his entire life in Lufkin. JC was an honest and down-to-earth man who valued his family, friends, and hard work. He enjoyed coaching baseball as his boys were growing up, and was a lifelong hunter.

Graduating with Lufkin High School’s Class of 1953, JC later served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Based at Fort Polk, his unit included several close and lifelong friends from Lufkin.

JC learned upholstery through a Technical-Vocational program at Lufkin High School. He went on to open his own shop, Havard’s Upholstery, which was in business for over 60 years. He was a master of his craft, with a well-deserved reputation for quality and meticulous craftsmanship. The Havard’s Upholstery motto was “If you’re particular…”.

Additionally, JC delivered mail for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, mostly serving the residents and businesses surrounding North Timberland Drive.

JC worshipped for many years at Denman Avenue Baptist Church. He was a member of Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. for over 60 years, becoming Worshipful Master in 1966, at the age of 31.

JC is survived by his daughter, Linda Diane Havard; sons, Matt Havard and wife Mary, Nick Havard and wife Mei Ling, and Russ Havard and wife Samantha, and grandsons, Zeke Havard and partner Olivia Toth, and Luke Havard. JC was given one short and to-the-point name at birth, which he grew to love and turned into a family tradition.

JC is pre-deceased by his wife, Patsy Ruth (Johnson) Havard; sister, Ima Jean (Havard) Roberts; and parents, Cliff and Mary Gladys (Tarbutton) Havard, all of Lufkin.

Pallbearers will be members of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M.

The Havard family extends special thanks to Hospice in the Pines, Visiting Angels, and the care staff at Huntington Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care and support.
