Funeral services for Jarrell DeWayne (JD) Pike, 73, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ty Phillips officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later time.
Mr. Pike was born April 16, 1944 in Timpson, Texas to the late Lilly Oneida (Carrico) and Wallace Guy Pike, and died Thursday, March 29, 2018 in a local facility.
Mr. Pike had resided in Lufkin most of his life and he owned the Redland Trading Post for 10 years. Always carefree and joking, he will be remembered for his infectious laugh. He cherished any time he could spend on the water and he shared a love of music with his family. Mr. Pike was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his sons, Scott Pike of Houston, Steven Pike and wife Carla of Baytown, and Jarrell Pike, Jr. of Santa Fe; daughters, Tina Hemphill and husband Jerry of Huntington, Lisa Wagner and husband Rickey of Angleton, Dana French of Houston, Erica Basralian and husband Peter of Missouri City; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Sheila Garner and husband Randy of Lufkin; brother-in-law, Kenneth Collins of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna McBryde; sisters, Kim Hicks and Sundi Collins; infant sister, Doretta Jane Pike; and brother, Ronnie Pike.
Pallbearers will be Brian Hemphill, Zachrey French, Tren Allen, Justin Linder, Zach Fink, and Brandon Auer.
Honorary pallbearers will be his dear friends, Neil Mitchell, Glenn Davis, Jerry Smitherman, Ricky Simms, Bob Ewing, Bill Whitehead, Dewey Lowrey, and John Murphy.
The family would like to recognize and thank his special lifelong friends, Neil Mitchell and Glenn Davis, for their support and love they so freely gave to JD, especially these last few years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Affinity Hospice, 2708 S. Medford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901 or the McClure Cemetery Association, c/o Sherman Thomas, 781 Marion Ferry Road, Huntington, Texas 75949.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones immediately following the funeral service in the Carroway Family Reception Room.
