Janice Rains

Funeral services for Janice Rains, 76, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother David Merritt officiating. Private interment will be in the White Rock Cemetery in Center.

Ms. Rains was born June 3, 1948 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Agnes Artie (Chisum) and Thomas Roden Rains, Sr., and died Wednesday, August 7, 2024 in Livingston. She resided in Lufkin most of her life and worked at the Lufkin State Supported Living Center for 11 years. Ms. Rains was a member of      McKindree Baptist Church.

Ms. Rains was a hard worker and provider, and the best mother. With broken hearts - her children, Edward, Erin, and Laille wanted to share that their spunky, independent sweetheart, who’d set them straight with only counting to 3 so many times…has made her ascent to heaven earlier this week and even though we miss her already and will never be able to fill the void - we find comfort and are able to smile knowing that not only is she in the arms of Jesus but she’s inevitably had at least 2 pots of coffee and knocked out at least one game of 42 with her parents and siblings that met her at her arrival.

Survivors include her son, Edward Seekings of Huntington; daughters and sons-in-law, Erin and Keith Corley of Diboll, and Laille and Stacy Hightower of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Edward Seekings, Jr., Renissa and Trey Johnson, Alicia Seekings, Blake and Brandy Cornelius, Ashlyn Athey, Joshua and Katie LeBlanc, Zak and Britani LeBlanc, and Brion Green; great-grandchildren, Greyson, Piper, Zaine, and Brinn LeBlanc, Blakelei and Barrett Cornelius, Bella and Gabby Johnson, and Beckham Athey; sister, Elizabeth A. Henry of Lufkin; special cousin, Connie Allen; father of her children, Jack Seekings of Diboll; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Vernell Merritt and Linda Duke; and brothers, T.R. Rains and Jimmy Rains.

Pallbearers will be Edward Seekings, Jr., Blake Cornelius, Joshua LeBlanc, Zak LeBlanc, Brion Green, and Trey Johnson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the services.
