Janey Longacre, 79, of Lufkin passed away on February 26, 2025 after a brief illness.
Born in Seminole, Texas to Jim and Kay Ford, Janey spent most of her childhood in Houston. She attended Spring Branch High School and Stephen F Austin University, where she met her late husband, Dan.
Janey retired from Huntington State Bank as their internal auditor after 33 years of service. A life-long Girl Scout, she also volunteered her time with First United Methodist Church in Lufkin. Her creativity was displayed in her hobbies of furniture refurbishing, sewing, and quilting. Many of her friends and family were gifted with her handiwork over the years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Kenny Bernzweig of Allen; daughter, Lisa Longacre of Hockley; her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Joan Ford; grandsons, Brian and Andrew Bernzweig; and sister-in-law, Kay Ford of Bradenton, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dan, both parents and her brother, Ken Ford.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Henderson Chapel at First United Methodist Church in Lufkin, the Reverend Dr. Richard White to officiate.
