Janet Louise Catchings

Funeral services for Janet Louise Catchings, 89, of Apple Springs will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Brother Robert Baggett and Brother Kevin Smith officiating. Interment will follow the services.

Mrs. Catchings was born March 27, 1934 in Wharton County, Texas to the late Thelma (Jones) and Herbert Brown, and died Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at her residence. She had resided in Apple Springs for 18 years and was a member of Church at Lufkin. Janet and her father Herbert Brown were nurserymen and loved flowers and gardening. Janet also loved God and her family.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Tim West of Apple Springs, Debbie Peterson and John Grissom of Houston, and Sherry Sanford of Huntington; sons and daughters-in-law, Russell and Annette McCleskey of Pollok, Joe McCleskey of Apple Springs, and Troy and Tracie McCleskey of Lufkin; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Mike Brown of Porter; sister, Carolyn Colson of New Caney; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, George Catchings.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the services.
