Funeral services for Janet Gayle Blume, 79, of Lufkin will be held Friday, August 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jimmy Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Blume was born February 11, 1941 in Boston, Ohio to the late Elizabeth Eleen (Dunlap) and Perry Ellot South, and died Monday, August 3, 2020 in a local hospice facility.
Mrs. Blume had resided in Lufkin for more than 55 years. She enjoyed cooking, was a gifted singer, and was known as a card shark who, according to her sister, loved to gloat. She loved her animals and leaves her terrier Roxy to grieve her passing. She was also known as the “Cat Lady”. Mrs. Blume was a Christian.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Debra Ann and Johnny Evett of San Augustine; granddaughters and spouse, Fadra (Blume) and Richard Terral of Wells and Heather Evett of San Augustine; grandson, Colton Evett of San Augustine; sister, Judy Ann Savitts of Hiram, Ohio; and other extended family in Ohio and Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Blume; son, Mark Dwayne Blume; brother, William Ellot South; and sister, Joyce Lynn South.
Pallbearers will be Brad Wall, Brance Wall, Colton Evett, Aaron Dunn, Terrance Castro, and Johnny Evett.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon prior to the services.
