Funeral services for Jan Polk Moore, 76, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mike Waters officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Jan was born June 6, 1949 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Ruth Hazel (Sessions) and H.C. Polk, and died Sunday, February 1, 2026 at her residence.
Jan was a woman of deep faith, generous love, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She lived her life grounded in Christian values, shaped by education, and marked by a gracious spirit of Southern hospitality that welcomed everyone who crossed her path.
Born and raised in Lufkin, Texas, Jan graduated from Lufkin High School in 1967. She continued her education at Stephen F. Austin State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in education and later completing a master’s degree in Reading Instruction. Jan devoted her professional life to education, serving East Texas elementary students with patience, compassion, and a genuine love for teaching. Her career was not just a profession but a calling, and she took great pride in helping young learners grow in confidence and knowledge.
From childhood, Jan was a devoted Christian. She faithfully served in many roles throughout her life, including Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and mission work, touching countless lives through her service. Her church home in later years was Glen Rose Methodist Church in Glen Rose, Texas, where she remained active in fellowship and faith.
Jan cherished time spent with friends and valued the relationships she built over a lifetime. She delighted in hosting gatherings - parties, game nights, showers, and countless social events - always ensuring others felt loved and included. She found joy in laughter, conversation, and togetherness, and her home was a place of warmth and welcome.
She also loved to travel and held a deep appreciation for meaningful experiences. Through travel, Jan admired the beauty of the arts, nature, and culture, always giving God the glory for the greatness of His creation.
Above all, Jan’s greatest joy came from being a mother and Nana. She took immense pride in teaching, guiding, and influencing her family, and her love for them was steady and unconditional.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, H.C. and Hazel Polk of Lufkin; her husband, Robin Middleton of Glen Rose; and her brother-in-law, Jerry Parr of South Lake, Texas.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Steve and Heather Winn of Rainbow, Texas, and Keith and Jill Gaston of Wells, Texas; her beloved granddaughters, Justyn Winn, Addyson Franklin, and Audrey Gaston; her siblings and their spouses, A.C. and Barbara Lynn Rogers of San Antonio, TX and Ray and Barbara Polk of Lufkin, TX and sister Margene Parr of The Woodlands, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
Jan leaves behind a legacy of faith, education, service, and love. Her life was a testimony to quiet strength, joyful generosity, and steadfast devotion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
