James Lynn "Shorty" Simmons

Graveside services for James Lynn “Shorty” Simmons, Jr., 39, of Lufkin will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sims (Rocky Hill) Cemetery with Reverend Tracy Lane officiating.

Mr. Simmons was born January 8, 1978 in Lufkin, Texas to Carolyn Faye (Gardner) and James Lynn Simmons, Sr., and died Sunday, December 10, 2017 in Lufkin.

Mr. Simmons had resided in Lufkin all his life and worked in Maintenance for Maple Creek RV Park. He loved his Pit Bull, Creeper, and enjoyed working on cars and fixing them. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Lesli Davis Simmons of Lufkin; daughter, Alexa Rae Simmons of Ganado; son, Brandon Simmons of Huntington; stepdaughter, Rachel Fowler of Lufkin; parents, James and Carolyn Simmons of Huntington; sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca Lynn and John McCoy of Huntington; nieces, Heather James and Angela James; numerous aunts, uncles, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Narry and Juanita Gardner, Darrell Gammons, and Shirley Lee; and stepson, Lee Fowler.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Brewer, Kevin Tillar, Ronnie Pleasant, Jerry Gardner, Dennis Gardner, and John McCoy.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Cody Howell and Chester Gammons.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon at the funeral home.
