Funeral services for James Paul Finney, 64, of Diboll will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Doug Garland officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Finney was born July 22, 1953 in Houston, Texas to the late Charlene (Walthall) and J.P. Finney, and died Monday, July 2, 2018 in a local hospital.
Mr. Finney had retired from being a Tool and Die Maker and had worked at Rocky Flats Nuclear Facility. He liked motorcycles, off-road vehicles, firearms and tractors. He enjoyed traveling, especially riding on his motorcycle to Colorado. He liked farming, gardening, and growing muscadine grapes. He enjoyed classic country western music and was a dance instructor, teaching country western and two-step. Mr. Finney loved his children, grandchildren and his family was most important to him.
Survivors include his fiancée, Ramona Harris-Bernsen of Diboll; sons, James Paul Finney, Jr. and Carrie of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Justin Finney and Crystal Ball of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, and Brian Finney and Mellie Summers of Commerce City, Colorado; stepsons, Scott Clinton and Rosetta of Houston, Joseph Clinton and Stephanie of League City, and Patrick Clinton of Jackson, Wyoming; grandchildren, Dallas Peyton Finney, Jasper Finney, Jackson Finney, Malcolm Clinton, and Brayden Clinton; sister, Pam Weaver and husband Gary of Houston; nieces, Brianna Cadena and husband Steven and Rachel Gray and husband Joe; nephew, Zachary Weaver; six great-nieces and nephews; his precious parrot, Maya, and faithful dog, Josie; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Macklin Taylor Finney; and his other precious parrot, Lexus.
