James Melvin Nolan

Memorial services for James Melvin Nolan, 83, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church with Pastor John Boone and Pastor Michael West officiating. Inurnment will be held in Houston National Cemetery.

Mr. Nolan was born January 9, 1941 in Crowley, Louisiana to the late Olive (Viator) and Joseph Melvin Nolan, and died Sunday, June 30, 2024 in a local nursing home.

James proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He worked in maintenance at various hospitals. He was a member of Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church. He loved to draw and play his guitar and had natural talent for both. He also loved slapstick comedy and spent many hours with his family laughing at old black and whites, like Martin and Lewis and Abbot and Costello.

James loved the God of the Bible above all else, and spent countless hours pouring over the Scriptures and developing Bible studies for his church and friends. Anyone who knew him well, knew he loved to talk about Jesus and His Word.

Survivors include his son, Paul James Nolan and wife Crystal of Lufkin; daughter, Kathy Davis of Winnie; daughter-in-law, San Juana Estep of Texas City; grandchildren, Jonathan Nolan and wife Andrea Moya, Reagan Nolan, all of Lufkin, Anthony Estep, Brittany Estep, both of Texas City; brother, Flash Nolan of Texas City; sister, Vickie Bourgeois of Lafayette, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Brenda Nolan; son, Sam Estep; and sister-in-law, Lena Nolan.
