Graveside services for James Kevin Nerren, 49, of Huntington will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Huntington Oddfellows Cemetery with Pastor Mike Fowler and Brother Lamar Denby officiating.
James was born May 10, 1974 in Lufkin, Texas to Gleena (Dominey) and James Ronnie Nerren. After a courageous battle with ALS, he passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family Sunday, April 7, 2024.
James began his career as a welder and was co-owner of K&G Trailer Sales. He worked at Southern Pacific/Union Pacific Railroad, where he became an Engineer. He was dedicated to loving and supporting his family with a heart of patience and compassion. He enjoyed documenting family memories from ball games to graduation. He used his talent for photography and computer skills to capture our family memories for us to cherish. James was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Deana Nerren of Huntington; his daughters, Cheyanne Nerren of Austin, Brittany Almond and husband James of Slaughter, Louisiana; granddaughter, Holley Almond of Slaughter, Louisiana; parents, James and Gleena Nerren of Huntington; sister, Stephanie Mayes and husband Jeremy of Huntington; parents-in-law, Ronald and Linda Visich of Onalaska; sister-in-law, Veronica Homan of Waldo, Florida; nephew, Hunter Mayes of Denton; niece, Taylor Mayes of Dallas; special aunts, Sandra Olds of Huntington, Pat Rush of Lufkin, Jeannie Bailey of Hudson; special cousin, Shelia Gillespie of Huntington; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry Lee and Georgia Mae Nerren, Earl and Myrtle Dominey, Harry “Pop” Holley; special great-grandfather, Ramsey Nerren; and special aunt, Pauline Dominey.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon prior to the service.
