James Thomas "Jack" Mott

Funeral services for James Thomas “Jack” Mott, Jr., 99, of Pollok will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Charles M. Roberts officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Gann Cemetery.

Mr. Mott was born August 19, 1925 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Jewell (Moore) and James Thomas Mott, Sr., and died Thursday, March 13, 2025 in a local hospice facility.

Mr. Mott served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 26th Marine Regiment, 5th Marine Division. He fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima as part of the second wave to land on the beach. Mr. Mott retired from Lufkin Conroe Telephone Exchange where he worked as a Customer Service Supervisor for 40 plus years.

Survivors include his grandsons and wives, Tyson and Charissa Mott, and Jeff and Connie Mott; daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Penn Bagnall, Pattie and Dennis Sheward, and Sherry and Harold Reston; grandsons and wives, Brandon and Lisa Goff, and Jason and Jennifer Brewton; granddaughter and husband, Lara and Jeff Hall; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marceal (Grisham) Mott; second wife, Mildred (Modisette) Mott; son, Steven Lee Mott; grandson, Ryan Goff; and best friend, Toby Appleman.

Pallbearers will be Tyson Mott, Jeff Mott, Penn Bagnall, Charles “Bubba” Baker, Chad Roberts, and Wade Blake.

Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Martin, Jr., Don Martin, John Martin, and Carl Martin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning prior to the services.
