Funeral services for James “Grasshopper” Hilton, 65, of Apple Springs will be held Monday, January 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scooter Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.
Mr. Hilton was born December 27, 1952 in Center, Texas to Bonnie (Woodell) and Benjamin Hilton, and died Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Hilton resided in Apple Springs for 12 years and worked for Toledo Scales for more than 10 years. He was good at woodworking and loved being on the river. Mr. Hilton was a member of Lufkin First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki (Hines) Hilton of Huntington; daughters and son-in-law, Heather and Timmy Crustner and Kayla Hilton, all of Huntington; grandchildren, Alison, Macy and Whitney Crustner; mother, Bonnie Hilton of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Alton Eaton of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Denise Hilton of Jasper; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Darrell and Debbie Hines, Jr. and Robbie Hines, all of Huntington, and Valarie Hines of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and his special friends from Highway 94.
He was preceded in death by his father.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Congregational Church, 105 Saddle Creek, Lufkin, Texas 75904, or Oak Flat Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1086, Huntington, Texas 75949.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon prior to the services.
