James William Golden

Funeral services for James William Golden, 87, of Huntington will be held Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Burl McBride III officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery.

Mr. Golden was born November 13, 1936 in Zavalla, Texas to the late James Milton and Ethel (Womack) Golden. He peacefully went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 4, 2024 at his home.

Mr. Golden served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959 and retired from Southland Papermill following 40 years of employment. He was a member of Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Lanette Golden, and David and Mary Golden, all of Huntington; grandchildren, Dustin Golden of Washington, DC, Tiffany Golden, Brandi Harris and husband Aaron, both of Huntington, Alyssa Tant and husband Kyle of Broaddus, Cord Sheard of Colorado, and Macy Sheard of Zavalla; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Ethelene Powers of Lufkin; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; and his Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his high school sweetheart, wife of 59 years, Mary (Bryan) Golden; sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and Pete Williams; brother, Milton Ray Golden; parents-in-law, Albert and Margarette Bryan; and brother-in-law, Doyle Powers.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Harris, Aaron Oliver, Billy Oliver, Burl McBride, Jr., Case Forrest, and Kyle Tant.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
